English-Language Arts Content Standards for California Public Schools. California Department of Education, Reposted June 9, 2009 The standards used for this course describe the content students need to master by the end of grade levels nine and ten. The framework on which these standards are based identifies instructional and student resources; promotes professional development; and suggests strategies for improving communication between school, home, and community.

California Career Technical Education (CTE) Standards and Framework. California Department of Education, December 10, 2008 The Career Technical Education standards and framework identify the knowledge and skills necessary for career and postsecondary options and provides a blueprint for organizing and delivering instruction. These standards support California's standards-based education system by incorporating knowledge about career options, technology, and skills required for success in adult life.

American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Standards. American School Counselor Association, 2004 ASCA National Standards identify and prioritize the specific attitudes, knowledge, and skills that students should be able to demonstrate as a result of participating in a school counseling program. They address academic, career, and personal/social development.

National Career Development Guidelines (NCDG) Framework. America"s Career Resource Network The National Career Development Guidelines are organized by three categories: Personal Social Development (PS), Educational Achievement, and Lifelong Learning (ED) and Career Management (CM). Under each of these domains are goals that define broad areas of career development competency and indicators of mastery that highlight the knowledge and skills needed to achieve that goal.
